Every Sunday afternoon, I review a list of principles that help me live with skill. I’ve written this list myself, using insights based on suffering.
Being human, I sometimes go into unhelpful perspectives and thought patterns that cause suffering. This suffering is sneaky, hiding behind concrete phenomena that obscure the underlying patterns.
I usually recover through insights that help me reorient and see the ways I’ve contributed to my own suffering. Naturally, I write these insights down in a notebook, refine them to principles, and review them weekly.
I would be a very different person today if I haven’t started doing this. I suggest trying it out. Why waste suffering?
Could you give an example of one of your principles?
