Against Entertainment
Horrible stuff
I am against entertainment. Horrible stuff.
Whenever you seek entertainment, you are likely to find:
Psyops: someone wants to change the way you think. Usually because they gain something, like money or political power.
Addiction: Your entertainment is optimised to get you hooked on the scroll-juice.
Distraction: Helps you avoid your feelings.1
Time-shredders: Holding zones for people. La petite mort.2
Interaction guard rails: Internalised fear of awkwardness and shame. Shutting down your own potential in order to escape.
It’s not entertainment: it’s a tool. You’re just not the wielder.
P.S: I offer philosophical guidance: 1on1 sessions where we explore important confusions in your life. Sessions are 60-90 min, and run in the gifting economy (pay what you want).
Here’s a statement from my client Frans-Lukas, shared with his consent:
“I’ve attended Jonathan’s philosophical guidance sessions four times, and the experience has been transformative. […] I often share the concepts discovered in Jonathan’s sessions with my friends, and they’ve significantly impacted my life.“
Some people might argue that addiction is always about avoiding ze feelings. To them I say: do you mean “addiction” or do you mean “dependence”?
+ realization of rigpa + tibetan book of the dead :D
